What is circularity? Post-use & R-strategie

Post-use & R-strategie

For those still with us (high five! ✋), welcome to the Post-Use Phase.

This is the moment when a product has passed its peak.

But the question isn’t “what now?” — it’s “how do we preserve the value that’s already been created?”
Because let’s face it — throwing things away is so last season.

That’s where the R-strategies come in — the ones we listed two weeks ago.

🔥 Speaking of which, two weeks ago was Belgium’s Overshoot Day — March 26.

What if everyone lived the way we do?
We’d need four planets to sustain that.
Or to flip it around: only 1 in 4 people could stay. Who are you voting off the island? (Bad joke! No Expeditie Robinson here)

And that’s not even taking into account that Europe barely has its own raw materials.

What we do have here needs to be treasured. Protected. Reused.

Circularity is not a nice-to-have. It’s a necessity.

It takes vision.
And it takes collaboration — even between competitors.
Like carpet take-back programs, where used materials are sent back to yarn manufacturers.
France already has some impressive examples of this.

Mattresses are now collected separately in recycling centers.
Could carpets be next?

Because what still holds value, deserves a second life — not the landfill.
